What is
the history of Collins Elevator?
Kenneth J. Collins, founder and active Vice President
of Collins Elevator Service, Inc. is proud to be celebrating
30 years in business. Located in Washington, D.C., Collins
Elevator Service, Inc. is a family run, minority-owned
elevator company servicing commercial and residential
elevators throughout the DC metropolitan area.
As a young boy, Ken was influenced by his father who
was a member of the Washington, D.C. area elevator union.
Not only was Ken amused by the function of an elevator,
he was gifted with being technically inclined. He enjoyed
learning about elevators and all of the mechanisms that
created the capability to be vertically mobile.
Upon graduating from Bethesda Chevy Chase High School
Ken entered the Elevator Union. In 1978, after years
of working in the field as an elevator technician, Ken
Collins was determined to utilize his entrepreneurial
skills and launch his own elevator repair company, Collins
Elevator Service, Inc.
Collins Elevator provides elevator maintenance and repairs,
new installations of elevators, as well as modernizations
and refurbishments of existing elevators.
